Where Repeater Stamps shine brightest are their wide range of characteristics and textures when using alternatives to standard ink pads (which also have their benefits).
This convenient tray comes with sample supplies to get you stamping right out of the gate with the materials that have worked the best for me so far. *The materials (felt and parchment) are valued at less than $1* and are included to help give you a baseline for what fabric works nicely with the ink tray and what paper works best for masking your artwork.
Contains:
- Square tray with lid (3.1"x 3.1"x)
- 3 squares (2.5"x 2.5") common polyester felt*
- 4 sheets (4"x 6") common parchment paper (baking sheets) for masking
*Stamp in photos are to illustrate size and handsome-ness when paired. Stamps sold separately*
*Color of felt and parchment will vary*
Ink Tray and Lid Description:
A handsome and convenient solution to the traditional ink pad while actively reducing the temptation to use your good Tupperware. I personally prefer the results I get from using my opaque, matte black ink compared to the standard ink-pads used with regular stamps. Though they do provide a good even distribution on to the stamp, they always felt a little weak. This approach opens you up to using white ink/paint as well as other colors or even ink-wash halftones. I am still learning new mixtures and techniques.
The lid rests on the rounded inside corners with a concave underside to reduce the likelihood of ink getting on the inside of the lid and then on your surface. This is a much smaller version compared to the previous so as to reduce the amount of ink needed to saturate the felt resulting in less wasted ink.
Felt and Parchment Description:
Parchment paper is the thinnest and most inexpensive paper that is semi transparent and easiest to cut. Its waxy surface doesn't absorb the ink so shapes can be reused (careful flipping the sheet over as ink can still be wet from previous stampings). This also gives you the freedom to cut very precise shapes or "grip it and rip it" for quick and easy overlapping to get the general shape you are looking for. I often have a few pre-cut, curved and angular shapes already cut that I reuse.
The felt squares are reusable to a degree depending on the wet mediums and colors you use. I suggest using one color per felt unless you are intentionally mixing colors. If one was used for black ink and then rinsed, using it for white ink will likely not result in a clean white.
